Mom-osa Bar: A baby shower must
Think natural, organic colors... and yes, that excludes pink. When dreaming up my baby shower theme, I wanted to take the host's home into account. My father's house is surrounded by lush trees and greenery so I didn't want the decor to distract from that beauty. of course, Every touch was designed to be sustainable and well-intentioned.
Oof. There were so many directions I could have gone, but I decided to let our local florist's wholesale inventory guide me. When I arrived, most stems were picked over, but I found an abundance of hydrangeas and peonies. Although they were still in buds, they remained beautiful throughout the shower. I kept the floral arrangements dainty and interesting by adding different variations to the same bud vases—no two were alike.
I wanted to keep this simple and let the surrounding oasis speak for itself. To add a touch of elegance, I included sage green pillar candles and gold pillar candle holders for height, along with ribboned stemware adorned with little bees. We also introduced our first group game (designed based on invitations)!
We arranged name tags for everyone to avoid people only sitting next to those they knew. This way, I ensured my grandfather had a place at the end of the table, which is always a family priority.
We rented three long tables, wooden chairs, and white linens from our local renter, Pedersen's. This was a fantastic decision, considering how expensive it would be to store and buy all these items separately! We also rented plates from them, which you simply stack once dirtied, and they come to pick everything up the next day—no hassle there!
I mean, how could we not? We had both bubbly and non-alcoholic champagne that was surprisingly delicious. Paired with fresh-squeezed orange juice and sparkling waters, it was a hit with the crowd. My father's wife went above and beyond, purchasing custom flutes that doubled as take-home gifts for the guests. It was a perfect touch that added a bit of extra fun to the celebration.
A PNW inspired baby shower.
It's all in the details
The yummiest catering
Danielle, my hostess with the mostest, ordered a spread from her dear friend who is a caterer in the Seattle area. When deciding on food, I remembered how simple it is to have small bites ready for everyone. This way, people could really choose what bites they wanted, especially my friends with dietary restrictions. The caterer made sure all the cheese was pasteurized so I could indulge too. The carrot cakes were my absolute favorite.
When outsourcing event vendors, catering is a must in my opinion. It takes so much of the stress away, and you don't have to worry about your guests not getting enough to eat or if they enjoyed the meal. With a caterer, it is hassle-free, and you're able to support someone with a small business. Double win!
It takes a village
The most important part is always the people you spend these special moments with. I had my husband, girlfriends, and father's side of the family come to celebrate baby girl. I was so grateful to have each and every one show up to celebrate this next phase of life. It will take a village, so we are lucky to have such an abundance of love and support.
All in all, it was a day I will never forget, and I can't wait to share all the photos with baby girl when she's old enough!
Thank you to all who made this shower so special especially to my host, Danielle. I love you and baby girl is so lucky to have you in her life.
