.04 Finalizing Your Board and Our Additional Tips

Now let’s zoom out, now that we have our guides in place, let's look into finishings and hardware. Maybe refer to your already pinned metallics for finding similar faucets, handles and so forth. You also can refer to your fabric swatches to begin defining what carpets, bed spreads, table runs, curtains and upholstery you’ll love.

Now let’s get to business, traditionally people gravitate towards finding furniture pieces first but that is where design can become a bit chaotic. Now that we know what textures and themes you are looking for, we can find furniture and decor pieces that will match. This process doesn’t have to be perfect (this is still just a mood board afterall). Some items you pin will be because you love the shape, you think it would be useful to have in your home or maybe it was a piece you have always dreamed of. Pin these and note what you love about them.

The beauty of Pinterest is having the ability to reorganize your boards and delete pins. Rearrange and edit your boards continually throughout the process. Repeat any of the steps above as many times as you need. If you have pieces in your home that you love, include them in your pinterest board. If you are working on multiple rooms, try creating an overall board for textures and color schemes, then separate boards for the details.

You can add those images from our pinterest to your board. Try utilizing the note to self section by writing what items you love specifically in the pin. You might even pull inspiration from your favorite coffee table books or design magazines.

So you are in the early steps of designing your space...

and we ask you to share any mood boards that convey what you are looking for. This can be daunting- how do you know where to begin when you want to share what you're envisioning with a designer? How do you define your interests within the theme of Coastal Interiors? Don't worry! Let’s kick off this mood boarding process together. Let's use pinterest and open a new board so we can begin fresh.

.01 Define your Color Palette and Find Textures You'll Love

Pinterest is great at suggesting pins based upon what you already have pinned, so let's start with a color palette and some textures for it to work off of. Luckily for you we already have a few boards for you to draw inspiration from. Check out our texture board if you need help finding the first things to pin to your board. Look for simplistic images with 1-4 textures in them for this step. Think color swatches, paint colors, tile, wood colors, metallics, fabrics and stone. You can even look through your own home and take close ups for this step.

What were the images that first drew you to the coastal interiors aesthetic?
